Between the first and second times I got fitted for a tux at MW, I changed a couple of inches in the waist and gained a half shoe size. Most changes may not be this radical, but if I'm renting a tux (and especially if I'm ordering bespoke clothing), I'd prefer to have up-to-date measurements, which can most reliably be made in-person.
